Tears flowed freely as late Professor Lai Oso was buried on Friday, in his hometown of Sagamu area of Ogun State.
Late Oso, a renowned professor of communication, died in a motor accident along the Ore-Sagamu expressway on Saturday, June 24, 2023.
The Prof lost his life while coming from Delta State University where he had gone as an external examiner for PhD students.
At the final burial event held for the scholar, he was described by many as an icon, and a compassionate man who lived a life of impact.
In his sermon, the General Overseer of the Victory Life Church, Apostle Lawrence Achudume urged the congregation to be mindful of their tomorrow.
The cleric asked the congregation, what they would be remembered for after their demise.
He eulogised Prof. Oso for living behind good legacies to talk about after his exit from the world.
According to him, Oso, the erudite scholar did not only Impact his world of the academy which has taken him through many institutions of journalism in Nigeria and abroad but has also impacted the lives of hitherto hopeless students, dropouts and indeed Widows in the Church where he worships.
Achudume charged the people to serve humanity the way the scholar served whose death he said was avoidable but for bad roads which dot the length and breadth of our country.
Quoting from Nehemiah 13:14, the cleric advised the congregation to impact life the way Oso lived.
He said “Prof. Oso lived his life for us all. He had the opportunity to make money but he allowed self-contentment to be his watchword.
”A man contented and satisfied in little but doing good to all.
“As for him, Oso whose burial attracted hundreds of well-wishers around the globe for the four days his rites of passage lasted, will be long remembered for living for others, giving all he has to make students, friends, widows, and all those who come across him better beings.”
Achudume said Oso was someone ”who knew God as his Helper-Psalm 86 and had respect for others”.
The burial service was attended by the deceased’s colleagues, friends, and students across the country.
