The National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Ozonkpu, Dr. Victor Ike Oye, has condemned the incessant xenophobic attacks on Nigerians and other African nationals in South Africa.
Oye described South Africans killing Nigerians and looting their shops as racists and opportunists.
The APGA National Chairman wondered why South Africans whom he claimed, Nigeria spent huge sums of money to liberate from apartheid should suddenly turn around to engage in killing and burning down their shops for no justifiable reason.
He expressed shock that this barbaric act could happen in a modern-day world where people should live in peace.
He called on the federal government to intervene immediately by ensuring that Nigerians resident in South Africa were evacuated immediately pending when firmer sanctions are brought against South Africa.
The APGA chairman, however, advised Nigerians resident in that country to relocate to Nigeria without further delay, while calling on the federal government to take steps to resettle them if they chose to do so.
“There is no way we should fold our hands and watch our innocent citizens killed like fowls in a brother-nation as South Africa.
“Nigeria has the capacity to defend itself and its citizens and must call the bluff of South Africa at this critical time by responding to the xenophobic attacks on Nigerians with all the firmness and seriousness it deserves”.
