Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has set up the State Executive Council comprising 23 commissioners and one Special Adviser, charging them to ensure the implementation of the ARISE Agenda, which focuses on stimulating the rural economy.
Eno, who gave the charge on Thursday while inaugurating the new exco at the Government House in Uyo, urged them to brace up to the new phase of the administration and turn around the economic fortune of their communities.
He emphasised that the A. R. I S. E. Agenda blueprint of his administration was aimed at ensuring a turnaround in the rural areas by way of integration and massive development.
“Let me state here very firmly that all political appointees must go back and stimulate rural developments in their respective wards and local government councils. That responsibility starts with you. You must work with the people in your respective wards, you must let the people feel the impact of governance.
“Governance starts at the grassroots; you must be a symbol of government in your local government and ward levels and must engage your people regularly. We will monitor this closely, so please take this very seriously.
He explained that he decided to begin the administration with his former colleagues, having worked with them and knowing their capabilities in certain areas.
He announced the creation of the Ministry of Internal and Waterway Security to ensure security for the people and investors and mandated the ministry to profile the various security groups in the state for the harmonisation of operations and purposes.
