A veteran actress and filmmaker, Ego Boyo, is of the opinion that the movie industry is currently undergoing an evolution.
Offering her perspectives on the impact of streaming platforms on Nollywood, Boyo told Sunday Scoop, “It is still fairly new.
I think that, at some point, the process will be distilled. Right now, it seems that everything and everyone is there. But very soon, I believe that we would have a distilled process that is distinct in terms of quality. I think it will happen eventually. That is how industries evolve.”
Reacting to the notion that the quality of storytelling in Nollywood was not the best, the actress, who is poplar for acting the role of Anne Haastrup in the popular TV series Checkmate, said, “I think films go through a cycle.
“There was a time when the focus was on the stories, and we did not have the right visual ability. Now, people want to see better visuals; as well as more action and thrillers films.
“There are usually different things that people want to see per time. However, I still maintain that the industry will evolve, and all these things people are complaining about will become better. Right now, there are people who are committed to telling good stories that people don’t know about.”
The actress also stated that her style of dressing was not dictated by trends.
Speaking on her style, she told Sunday Scoop, “I like more classic pieces that would last beyond a particular season or year. I love things that are comfortable. I follow trends, but not when it comes to how I decide dress. My style can best be described as ‘classic’.”
