It is no longer news that one of the most popular reality shows on the continent, Big Brother Naija, has returned with an all-star edition, featuring 20 former housemates from different seasons competing for a grand prize of N120m. The show commenced last Sunday, July 23, 2023.
The housemates in the current season are Cee C, Mercy, Kiddwaya, Frodd, Pere, Angel, Neo, Alex, Tolanibaj, Cross, Seyi, Whitemoney, Uriel, Doyin, Princess, Soma, Ike, Ilebaye, Venita and Adekunle.
One the highlights of the game so far happened on Monday evening when Adekunle won the Head of House games. Known to be very competitive, Adekunle was one of the people who won the most tasks during his original season (Level Up). Winning the first HOH game of the current season has undoubtedly put him in the spotlight, and he is fast becoming the favourite of some fans.
He went into the Head of House lounge with Cross, Seyi, Frodd and Soma, and they seem to be quickly forming a bond.
Perhaps, because of their earlier experiences on the show, some other housemates have also wasted no time in forming alliances.
Past winners of the show— Mercy and Whitemoney— had a conversation planning how they would form an alliance as the only returning winners. This is not out of place as it is envisaged that many of the other housemates would frequently nominate them for eviction, particularly because they had already won the show at different times.
Kidwaya, Tbaj, Princess, Doyin and Angel also seem to be gravitating towards one another; while Venita, Mercy and Seyi have spoken about sticking to one another. That is also not surprising because they were all contestants on the Pepper Dem edition of the show.
Meanwhile, fans of some of the housemates have been showing their support for their favourites.
The Spartans, who are die-hard fans of Cee C, have been rallying behind her. This is even as many seem to think that a showdown is brewing between her and Alex. Recall that both of them were housemates in the Double Wahala edition of 2018, and they did not see eye to eye (to put it mildly). During one of their wager tasks during the week, a quarrel broke out between both housemates. The argument stemmed from a script that Alex had written for their wager task, which Cee C felt lacked a storyline. Alex, on her part, was angry at Cee C’s statement, especially because she (Cee C) did not contribute to the task. This disagreement led to a heated exchange between the two housemates.
Another housemate that has been causing a buzz in the house is Ilebaye, who also originally appeared in the Level Up season in 2022. Many people on social media have opined that she is not playing her game well. This is majorly because she is believed to have been flirting with many of the male housemates since their first day in the house. On Thursday night, Tolanibaj dragged her out of Neo’s bed. Kiddwaya also told her to leave his bed and refused to lie down till she left.
Meanwhile, the winner of the Level Up season, Ijeoma Otabor, aka Phyna, said in a social media post that Ilebaye should be protected at all cost, while a current housemate and winner of the Shine Ya Eye edition of 2021, Whitemoney advised against her ‘flirting game’ if she wanted to last on the show.
