It also called on state governments to come up with programmes and policies aimed at incorporating and integrating youths into governance.
This, the group said, will stem the tide of youth restiveness across the federation.
National President of NYO, Comrade Okorie Okorie, stated this during a press conference, on Saturday, in Abakaliki, in commemoration of the 2023 International Youth Day Celebration.
He said, “It’s with utmost joy and happiness that I welcome you all to this important press conference of the Nigeria Youth Organisation (NYO), which is in commemoration of the activities of 2023 International Youth Day Celebrations themed “Green Skills for Youths: Towards a Sustainable World”.
“As we all know every year 12th of August is International Youth Day Celebration as proclaimed by the United Nations which all and sundry are witnessing today. It is a day set aside for the youths globally in recognition of our commitment and sacrifices towards the development of the entire society.
“Let me seize this opportunity to formally unveil the New Emblems of the Nigeria Youth Organisation with the hashtag “A better Nigeria is possible; It begins with you” and “I’m a Nigerian youth with a positive difference”.
“In the same vein, I call on the Federal Government of Nigeria to as a matter of urgent national importance make law for the Establishment of the National Youth Development Commission (NYDC) and the building of National Youth Development Centre respectively.
“Similarly, governors of various states of the federation are as to this extent being called upon to set up State Youth Development Commissions and as well build State Centers for Youth Development in order to adequately carry the youths along in the scheme of things
“To the Nigerian Judges at all levels, we the youths expect uprightness in dispensing justice especially as it concerns election petitions standing trials before you.”
