Governor Mohammed Jibrilla Bindow of Adamawa State took the lead Sunday morning in the three local government areas so far announced bu the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
Bindow had polled a total of 52,019 votes in Shelleng, Yola South and Mayo Belwa LGAs, as against his counterpart of the PDP, Umaru Fintiri who polled a total of 48,464 votes from the three LGAs.
Bindow, who contested for a return as governor on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), won the governorship election in both Shelleng and Yola South, while his closest challenger, Hon Umaru Fintiri, got superior votes from Mayo Belwa.
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) under which Sen Abdul-Aziz Nyako contested as the governorship candidate, came third in the three council areas with total votes of 29,663
Both Shelleng and Yola South LGAs were won by the APC in the presidential election of two weeks ago, while Mayo Belwa went to the PDP.
