As part of its mass wedding program, Kano Hisbah (Sharia police) confirmed on Wednesday that it had acquired furniture, food, and clothing supplies for 1,800 intended couples.
Sheikh Aminu Daurawa, the commander-general of the Kano State Hisbah board, made the revelation while reviewing the items that had been purchased for the large wedding. He claimed that the state government had set aside more than 800 million naira for the purchase of furniture, clothing, food, and other items, including the bride’s price, among others.
Each bride would receive a set of beds and bedding as well as 20,000 yen to help launch a business, he explained.
Aminu also revealed that wealthy people and philanthropists have promised to help the planned mass wedding succeed.
Aminu pointed out that at least 1,800 couples are anticipated to profit from the thoughtful act, which he believes will address the social vices and poverty that plague the society.
He explained that because parents couldn’t afford to cover the wedding costs, many marriages were frequently postponed.
However, he pledged to inform all parties involved as soon as arrangements were complete of the date and location of the mass wedding, and he also appealed to philanthropists to help achieve the desired goals.
The commander-general also stated that criteria had been established for the selection of beneficiaries, warning that anyone found guilty of divorcing his wife following the mass wedding would be required to pay for the free items he had received from the state government.
He urged wealthy people to support the state government by helping the less fortunate members of society tie the knot in order to live in peace in order to ensure the success of the mass wedding.
