Bago said the holidays would enable the state to distribute over N5bn and other food items as palliatives to all wards across the 25 local government areas of the state.
Bago said this at a press briefing in Minna on Friday.
Bago said, “The government has declared three-day holidays from Wednesday to Friday next week to allow for the distribution of palliatives at the rural and local government levels.”
He further said, “N10m will be distributed per ward in 21 local government areas while wards in Bida, Suleja, Kontagora, and Chachanga local government areas would get N20m each.
“N80m will go to traditional institutions so that they won’t put their hands on what is meant for the people. N75m will be provided for the IDPs, N150 million to political parties so that they won’t divert the palliatives, and N110 million for logistics and security.
“The federal government is sending us 40,000 bags of maize and we have 4,950 polling units; we are sharing 10 bags of maize per polling unit.
“The state would augment N230 million to the N5 billion that would be given by the federal government.”
Bago said that the monies will be distributed on Monday to the local government wards and he advised residents to remain in their wards.
