The IELTS, an international standardised test of English language proficiency for non-native English language speakers, is part of the requirements some Nigerians seeking admission into higher institutions overseas must meet.
According to a statement by the IELTS Business Development & Operations Manager – Nigeria, IDP, Funmilayo Peter-Thomas, on Tuesday, the two new dedicated IELTS test centres are sited in the Alausa and Victoria Island areas of the state.
According to her, these new test centres will be home to IELTS on computer labs and will offer frequent testing in modern, purpose-built facilities which offer quick results in three to five days.
“With an IELTS score, our test takers can proudly show their English language proficiency to more than 11,000 organisations. It’s a clear, trusted way for people to prove their English language ability and to open the doors to global opportunities for people in Alausa and Victoria Island.”
“These new centres at Alausa and Victoria Island will also offer test takers a range of free IELTS preparation support, access to experienced staff and a comfortable and friendly test environment to achieve their study, immigration or career goals abroad,” Mrs Peter-Thomas said.
On his part, IELTS Director MEA, EU & CIS, while expressing excitement that IDP expanded IELTS on computer presence to the two suburbs of Lagos, said the first 50 test takers who register to sit a test at the Lagos and VI test centres will be provided with a voucher for a free IELTS Progress Check, valued at ₦46,000, the official IELTS online practice test, which is marked by qualified markers.
“Test takers will have the option to choose whether they sit their test on paper or on computer, whichever suits them best. They will also have the support of our expert teams and our digital platform – including the IELTS by IDP App which enables test takers to receive expert preparation guidance, register for the IELTS tests and, later, proudly showcase their results on social media platforms. Our trusted human connections will support Nigerian students and test takers every step of the way in achieving their global study and career goals,” he said.
