The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, on Sunday announced the result of the governorship election held in Enugu State with no mention of the All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate.
In the results, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, was declared winner.
In the final results announced on Sunday, the Governor swept the polls in the entire 17 Local government Areas of the State.
The results were announced at the State Collation Centre office of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in Enugu.
Prof. Joseph Ahaneku, the Vice Chancellor of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, who is the the State Collation/Returning Officer, gave total number of registered voters as 1,944,803, while the accredited voters stood at 478,241.
According to him, while the APC got 10,423, the PDP polled 449,935.
However, unlike other political parties which had names of their candidates mentioned by Ahaneku, he remained silent on that of the APC.
This may not be unconnected to litigations over the APC candidacy by Senator Ayogu Eze and Barr. George Ogara.
However, DAILY POST reports that the result was signed by APC agent, Mr. Adolphus Ude, alongside the Chief of Staff to the Enugu State Governor, Hon. Festus Uzor, who signed for the PDP. Agents of other political parties also signed.
