The National President, Manufacturers Association of Nigeria, Francis Meshioye, on Thursday tasked Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State on the urgent need to fix certain roads, especially those around industrial estates at Agbara, Atan and Ota, all in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of the state.
Meshioye, who was speaking during the 38th Annual General Meeting of MAN in Abeokuta, Ogun State, stated that the improvement of road infrastructure in such areas would help to boost industrial activities and expand opportunities for jobs and wealth creation for the people.
He said to ensure the sustenance of the existing manufacturing companies and revamp those at the verge of collapse under the weight of overwhelming macroeconomic, infrastructural and regulatory challenges, the government must help in addressing the factors militating against manufacturers.
The AGM had the theme, ‘Re-engineering Economic Pathways for the Growth and Advancement of the Real Sector – Current Realities and Future Prospects’.
Meshioye stated, “Some of the roads the manufacturers would want Governor Abiodun to help fix include Lagos–Abeokuta Express road; roads in and outside industrial estates in Atan, Agbara and Ota. We urge you to improve on these roads in order to boost industrial activities and expand opportunities for jobs and wealth creation for the citizenry in the state.
“We equally implore Your Excellency to direct that taxes and levies should be harmonised in the state.”
The governor, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr Tokunbo Talabi, hailed the manufacturers, describing them as pivotal to a prosperous economy.
