The Yaba College of Technology, Lagos, has held a workshop on grant proposal writing for its staff to help them explore diverse opportunities available to both the institution and the staff.
Speaking during the opening ceremony of the workshop, which was organised by the Centre for Research Support & Grants Management, the Rector, YABATECH, Dr Ibraheem Abdul, charged teaching and non-teaching staff of the college on the need to raise their quest on writing research grant proposals.
A statement on Wednesday quoted the rector as saying that he was impressed with the large turnout of the participants, “which shows that there is a new thinking in the college.”
He said the institution was “going in a direction where the staff would have a new perspective on their jobs, which will make them get to the expected level.”
He was quoted as saying that “research would change their orientation and rebuild them to jettison frivolities and courses that would make them be chasing pecuniary ventures as their minds are busy with research grants and research products.”
