Movie producer, Anuli Ajagu, has said her new family movie, ‘Praise Party’, was inspired by a major crisis in her family.
She told Sunday Scoop, “Life inspired this movie, ‘Praise Party’. I went through a major family crisis in 2017 that almost ruined my life. And then in 2021, I lost my only sister to cancer. It caused me a lot of trauma and emotional pain.
“It also taught me that in this world, we need to do what we need to do as soon as possible. So, I decided to revisit a lost dream of filmmaking, which I have had for over 30 years now. I took the bold step and came up with an exciting story. Here we are today, going to the cinemas.”
Premiering in Lagos on November 5, and going to the cinemas nationwide on November 10, the film boasts actors such as Kunle Remi, Keppy Ekpenyong, Bayray Nwizu, Tina Mba, Sola Fosudu, Chioma Nwosu and Arinze Okonkwo, among others.
Ajagu’s Brampton’s Productions produced the movie. Set in Nigeria, the movie highlights the importance of community, seeking professional help, and how taking responsibility, counselling, faith, courage and forgiveness can be therapeutic; bringing healing and restoration to hurting souls.
