Piers Morgan, the British broadcaster, has singled out Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice for praise following the Gunners’ Premier League 1-0 defeat to Newcastle United on Saturday.
Arsenal suffered a defeat at St. James’ Park, with a controversial goal from Newcastle winger Anthony Gordon being the difference maker.
The ball seemed to have gotten out of play in the build-up and Arsenal’s Gabriel Magalhaes was pushed inside the area.
But VAR awarded the goal to the host.
Reacting, Morgan also hit out at VAR’s role in the build-up and blamed Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta for sticking with Kai Havertz.
“VAR was MoM for Newcastle, but we deserved to lose. Arsenal were dreadful,” Morgan tweeted.
“Only Rice, again, deserves any praise. So long as we have no proper striker, and Arteta persists in this ridiculous Havertz farce, we won’t win the League.”
