President of the Emeka Agba Foundation, boxing promoter, Emeka Agba has promised excitement and fireworks at his inagural boxing night tagged ‘Ring Matadors’ coming up on November 12 at the Brai Ayonote Boxing Gym, National Stadium, Lagos.
“This is going to be our first outing ant it promises to be fun and exciting. Above all, it is not going to be our last, we continue to improve day in day out but come to this one and see what we have to show for the first try.
“I have charged my boxers to excite the fans, I told them to give their best and I know they will not disappoint me so come and be entertained. This will not be our best but it will be the best we can do now,” Agba said.
Dr. Rafiu Ladipo, the President of the Nigeria Boxing Board of Control, has expressed his appreciation for the Emeka Agba Boxing Promotions as a welcome addition to the Nigerian boxing industry.
“We are happy to announce to the public another boxing promoter joining the ever-growing list of boxing promoters in the country. We are proud of our achievements as we are determined to take boxing to the next level.
“We have a growing number of 167 promoters in the country as we speak, and we can only ask for more to come and join the moving train.” Ladipo said.
The General Secretary of the NBBofC disclosed that there will be six bouts on Sunday stating that the main fight will be the cruiserweight fight between Amuel Ebhohan and Godwin Ambrose. There will also be clashes in the welterweight and lightweight categories.
Agba then added that boxing was his favourite sports and would love to develop home grown boxers that would one day contend for world boxing heavyweight bouts at the international level.
“I will love to take boxing in Nigeria to the next level, I want to see the next Anthony Joshua and Efe Ajagba from my own camp,” he said.
“After this event on Sunday, I am going to pick the best from these boxers to fight under my camp and management and we will train them with the aim of growing world champions among them.”
He called on all stakeholders and lovers of the sport to support the initiative, which he said was the sure way of taking youths off the streets and giving them a good source of income to take good care of their families.
