PUNCH Metro gathered that the deceased, until her death, was a resident of the community where her body was found.
Our correspondent learnt that the family of the deceased had earlier engaged in a frantic search for her whereabouts after she went missing on Sunday evening.
The daughter of the deceased, Adekoya Saidat, was said to have described the victim as a resident of the Ododagunja area of the community before she was found dead, with her body mutilated.
Following the suspicious circumstances surrounding the death of the elderly woman, the Ogun State Police Command said her death might be related to ritual killing.
Meanwhile, the command revealed that a suspect in connection with the death of the 90-year-old had been arrested.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, who confirmed the incident to our correspondent on Thursday, said, “The daughter reported the incident at the Ogbere police division around 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
“Men of the division were immediately deployed to the scene. One suspect has been arrested so far. In the meantime, the corpse has been deposited at the Ijebu-Ode mortuary while the investigation is ongoing.”
