Tojemarine Academy defeated Police Machine 39-26 on Wednesday in the second phase of the Ardova Handball Premier League.
The Lagos-based team were the better side and made their dominance count with their second win in two games in the second phase to maintain their second position on the log.
Tojemarine made good use of the chances that came their way and defended well, while the Police boys were second best throughout the game. The Police team rallied in the closing moments of the game but met strong resistance from the Tojemarine Academy boys.
Leaders, Niger United of Minna, also had a good outing beating De:Defenders 34-28. It was a keenly contest tie but the Minna team did enough to win the game and maintain their top position on the log.
Also the dismal run of defending champions, Kano Pillars continued as their game against Correctional boys ended 21-21.
Pillars’ performance has continued to confound their fans and other handball teams have taken advantage of their dismal performance.
In the female category, leaders Safety Babes defeated Benue Queens 32-21, Rima Queens beat Delta Queens 29-22, while Imo Grasshoppers beat Bendel Dynamos 24-23.
