Youths in Woji had taken to the streets to protest after Nyebuchi’s body was recovered in an uncompleted building in Chokocho in Etche Local Government Area, days after he went missing from the custody of the police in Woji, where he was detained following a dispute with his tenant.
Speaking with newsmen on Wednesday, the widow, Sweetie Nyebuchi, said she was too young to be a widow, insisting on justice for her late husband.
Nyebuchi said her late husband was not a criminal and did not do anything wrong to warrant his death.
The distraught woman who said she was pregnant noted that her late spouse stood on his right, as his tenant was owing him rent.
She stated, “I need justice from the government for my late husband. I have children, and even now I am pregnant for my late husband.
“I need the government to intervene in my husband’s case. My husband was a good man. He was not a Criminal. He died for his rights. His tenant was owing him.”
Meanwhile, the Woji Youths Association condemned the killing of their member, Nyebuchi Eke.
In a statement, the association’s President, Kingsley Worlu, called on the state government, the police and other relevant bodies to intervene and ensure justice is served.
Meanwhile, the state Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu, has condoled with the family and assured the woman that she will get justice
Disu stated, “I will take it from the woman asking for justice. Justice will be served. Those involved have been arrested. An investigation is going on and everybody will get feedback.”
