The Delta State Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mrs. Rose Ezewu, has lauded multinational oil company, Chevron Nigeria Limited, and the Chemical Society of Nigeria, for their joint efforts in motivating the interest of Delta State students in the study of Chemistry.
Ezewu, who was the Guest of Honour on the occasion of the 2023 award presentation ceremony for the Awokoya Memorial Competition in Chemistry, organised the Delta State chapter of the CSN, in partnership with Chevron, noted with delight that their endeavours had impacted positively on Delta students.
Appreciating Chevron and the CSN “for the laudable efforts in taking the study of Chemistry to a higher level among students in Delta State,” the commissioner stressed that with the endeavours, the organisers had made the state government proud.
She emphasised the importance of Chemistry to human existence and encouraged the beneficiaries of the awards not to rest on their oars.
The award ceremony, which took place at the Conference Centre of the Petroleum Training Institute, Effurun, Delta State on Saturday, had in attendance Chemistry stakeholders, comprising captains of industry, government officials, parents, teachers and students drawn from all over the state.
It was cash bonanza for Chemistry students and teachers in Delta State, as Chevron Nigeria Limited, in partnership with the Delta CSN splashed unspecified amount of money on the beneficiaries, in the efforts to boost the interest of students in Chemistry as a prospective life career.
