The new state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ishaq Muhammad, presented the suspects, namely; Opeyemi Olawuwo, 38, Akolade Kazeem,43, Kazeem Ajala, 47, and Abeeb Abioye, 29, at the Command’s headquarters in Osogbo.
He disclosed that riot police operatives on stop-and-search duty along Ife) Ibadan road at Akinlalu Junction, had intercepted the vehicle.
He further said, “A team of 39 Police Mobile Force (PMF) on stop search duty at Akinlalu junction, Ife/Ibadan expressway, accosted the car driven by Opeyemi Olawuwo.
“Upon interrogation, it was discovered that the car was forcefully snatched from one Prince Godwin Anaidhu. The vehicle, a Toyota Muzzle Camry, two fabricated wooden rifles and
some phones suspected to have been stolen by the suspect were eventually recovered from him.
“The suspect was transferred to the Anti-Kidnapping Squad for discreet investigation, and during interrogation, he confessed to having committed the crime together with one Segun, a.k.a. ‘Liverpool’ now at large.
The CP said further investigation led to the arrest of other suspects, adding that “efforts are still ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspect. The suspects would be charged to court on completion of the investigation.”
