The Director General of the National Automotive Design and Development Council, Joseph Osanipin, has advised the Auto Sector Skills Council to incorporate advanced technology in the formulation of operational standards for auto mechatronics training in the country.
He stated this directive during the recent Sector Skills Council Awareness/Sensitisation Workshop for the Northern Zone, jointly organised by NADDC and SSC in Abuja.
According to a statement, Osanipin emphasised the importance of adapting to current technological advancements in the automotive sector.
He encouraged participants and industry players to upgrade their skills by leveraging the training curriculum and facilities provided by the council.
He highlighted the transformation of the auto industry over the past few decades, emphasising the critical role of training.
The DG said, “The way the auto industry worked 30, 40 years ago is no longer the way it works today; and the key element is training.
“The council realised this and partnered with SSC to identify gaps, with a particular focus on addressing challenges in electrical and electronics.”
The President of the Automotive Sector Skill Council, Francis Udeh, expressed satisfaction with the workshop, noting its significance in raising awareness among members regarding the current administration’s commitment to revolutionise the automotive sector.
