Flourish Africa, a non-governmental organisation founded by businesswoman, Folorunso Alakija, has increased its seed grants to female-owned businesses from N2m to N3m.
In a statement issued by the NGO, the grants are being given through its Business and Life Skills Training Programme.
A fresh cohort of 100 women underwent the training and were to receive the seed grants after they had gone through a selection process, including a pitch competition.
The increase in the grants was announced at the seventh Annual Flourish Africa conference by Alakija.
This initiative aligns with Flourish Africa’s goal to empower at least 2,500 female entrepreneurs over the next five years.
“These efforts signify an important stride towards the organisation’s overarching mission of providing a platform for impacting women, focusing on areas such as business, career, spiritual development, love, and relationships,” part of the statement read.
Speaking at the Annual Flourish Africa Conference 2023, themed ‘She-Champions: Fostering Economic Growth and Participation in a Digital Economy,’ Alakija emphasised the initiative’s role as a knowledge-sharing platform.
