A 20-year-old Chidera Ozemina and 32-year-old Micheal Chukwu have been arrested by the operatives of the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly stealing a Range Rover SUV in United Estate Shangotedo, Ajah, in Lagos State on Sunday.
PUNCH Metro gathered that the suspects also made away with the car’s documents.
The owner of the car, who does not want his name on print, claimed that he discovered the car had vanished from the premises when he returned from the market.
“At about 4:55 pm on Wednesday, I noticed the car was not where I parked it when I returned from Ladipo Spare Parts Market just as I discovered that they had also burgled the apartment. I searched the house carefully and I figured that they had taken the car keys.
“They did not just stop there, they took the car papers. I was shocked because I thought most thieves would just take the keys and go but these people took the papers of the car. I reported to the police immediately, thankfully, the car was recovered by the police today.”
A resident, Emmanuel, said, “They must have been monitoring the car because it is a Range Rover SUV 2008 model and I hope it is not somebody who knows him that leaked the information or it might be that those thieves had been spying on him for a while.”
When contacted, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident to our correspondent on the telephone, stating that the vehicle had been retrieved from the suspects and investigation was going on.
He said, “The vehicle has been recovered from the suspects and the investigation is ongoing.”
