The Executive Assistant on Media to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State, Mr Norbert Chiazor, has lauded journalists’ professionalism in reporting the developmental trajectory of the state governor since his inauguration on May 29.
Chiazor stated this when he received in his audience the newly inaugurated executives of Asaba Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigerian Union of Journalists in Asaba, the Delta State capital, who paid him familiarisation visit.
Explaining that Governor Oborevwori would set a trail-blazing direction in office, Chiazor noted that the governor has a development model that would transform Delta State.
He tasked journalists to remain in the forefront of reporting the gains of the state government’s policy thrust, called the M.O.R.E Agenda.
He averred that Oborevwori’s vision has started yielding results with the ongoing construction of the N78 billion mega bridges, cloverleaf and roads expansion network contracts awarded to Julius Berger in Warri and EFfurun.
He said, “It is also manifested in the commissioning of projects across the state, in the payment of N40 billion to local government pensioners, N5 billion promotion arrears to state civil servants, as well as recruitment of teachers and workers in the councils, among others.
“After four years of this mandate, it is obvious that Delta will give him another four years’ mandate, so by the time he leaves office after eight years, there would be total transformation in Delta State.
“If you look at the past administrations in Delta State, James Ibori, Emmanuel Uduaghan and Ifenayi Okowa spent eight years each, so it is a tradition in Delta and it would continue.
“I wish to thank journalists for their professional support for the government since inauguration on May 29, 2023 and assured that Governor Oborevwori will set a trail-blazing direction in office.”
Chiazor, a former NUJ state chairman, said that media practitioners as agents of progress, bear a responsibility to enlighten the people on the M.O.R.E Agenda, which stands for Meaningful Development, Opportunities for all, Realistic Reforms and Enhanced Peace and Security.
