PUNCH Online learnt that the crash occurred around Conoil Filling Station at about 9.23pm, involving 18 persons, including 16 male adults and two female adults.
The Federal Road Safety Corps confirmed the accident in a statement by its spokesperson in Ogun, Florence Okpe, on Saturday night.
“Seven persons were injured, and three were recorded dead from the crash,” Okpe said.
The crash, it was gathered, involved two vehicles: a Toyota Hiace bus with number plate RLG846XA and a trailer marked JJN32YX.
“The suspected cause of the crash was excessive speed, which led to loss of control,” Okpe disclosed.
She stated that the injured victims were taken to Idera Hospital for medical attention, while the bodies were deposited at the same hospital’s morgue in Sagamu.
Meanwhile, the Sector Commander of the FRSC in Ogun, Anthony Uga, had “advised motorists to consider this period of high vehicular movement and poor visibility due to weather conditions.”
