Nigerian striker, Tolu Arokodare, is thrilled to have bagged his first-ever brace for Genk in their 3-0 win over Antwerp on Tuesday.
Arokodare came on as a 69th-minute substitute for Bonsuh Baah and scored twice in the space of two minutes as Genk ended their final game of the year on a winning note.
The brace which was his first ever in his club career took his tally to six in 19 league games this season.
Arokodare is also the second player this season to score twice after coming on as a substitute in a Belgian topflight division game after Lucas Stassin bagged a brace against Royal Antwerp last week.
“I have never scored twice since I started playing for Racing Genk. This is a very beautiful feeling,” he said.
“We wanted to send a message after the previous match, in which things did not go as planned.
“We not only wanted the three points, but also to show that we can play football, regardless of what everyone thinks about the referee. There was not really frustration, but mainly disappointment. It was mainly a motivation for us to get the three points today.”
“We put in a strong performance against Antwerp. We finally got what we deserve.”
Arokodare, joined Belgian Pro League outfit, KRC Genk from French Ligue 2 club, Amiens SC on a for four and half year deal in February.
He replaced fellow Nigerian Paul Onuachu, who left the Smurfs to join Premier League club, Southampton, in an £18m deal in a last-minute transfer deadline move also in February.
Genk will kick-start their second half of the season with clash against Cercle Brugge on January 20.
