The Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, Tuesday met with a former governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, and the governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ogun, Prince Gboyega Isiaka.
The meeting held separately behind closed doors at the Governor’s Office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
Abiodun also held a meeting with some leaders of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), led by the state Chairman, Chief Bayo Dayo.
Neither Abiodun nor his visitors revealed the purpose of their meetings to newsmen.
However, DAILY POST learnt their talks might not be unconnected to the submission of nominees for appointment as Commissioners.
Gov Abiodun has last week promised to release his list of Commissioners soon; promising an all-inclusive government.
Recall that Daniel, few days to the governorship election, directed all his followers to vote for Abiodun. He has since defected from the PDP to the APC after the general elections.
On the other hand, there are speculations that Isiaka of the ADC, Sen. Buruji Kashamu of the PDP and some other governorship candidates in Ogun, worked for Abiodun’s victory in the March 9 election in Ogun State.
As a result, Abiodun, it was learnt, has decided to compensate those who stood up for him during the election by giving them the opportunity to be in his cabinet; a decision he said did not go down well with leaders of the APC.
A source informed that the duo of Daniel and Isiaka, as well as the PDP leaders were in the governor’s office to present their lists of Commissioner nominees.
Meanwhile, the PDP has expressed optimism that Abiodun would perform well as the Governor of the state.
Speaking after meeting the governor, the party Chairman lauded him for accommodating opposition members.
Dayo was accompanied by Otunba Robert Adenaike, Chief Kola Sorinola and Dr Remi Bakare, who was the Director-General of Senator Buruji Kashamu’s 2019 governorship campaign.
