Addressing journalists in Ikirun on Wednesday, the Osun ALGON chairman, Mr. Sarafadeen Awotunde, said Adeleke’s endorsement for another term by the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state was an indication that the governor has been fulfilling his campaign promises.
Awotunde further said LG chairmen decided to follow suit after PDP’s endorsement, having noted achievements recorded by the administration in infrastructure, agriculture, and workers’ and retirees’ welfare.
He urged party members to continue to support the administration so that more achievements could be recorded, assuring that the local government chairmen would also intensify their rural development drive to further drive the development agenda of the Adeleke administration at the grassroots level.
The ALGON chairman said, “Adeleke administration has recorded achievements in sectors such as Agriculture, infrastructure, education, workers and retirees’ welfare through payment of arrears of outstanding salary, pension, and gratuity.
“Mr Governor is a focused and very reliable person who doesn’t care about or pay attention to negative things being said by the opposition to pull him down. That has made him worthy of being given a second-term ticket.”
But when asked to react, the Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, through its spokesperson, Mr. Kola Olabisi, said the electorate would choose the governor and not local government chairmen.
He said, “Osun electorate will choose their governor and not some local government chairmen. It is within their right to endorse anyone.”
