The founding member and first Nigeria Country Director of Nexford University, Mrs Olamidun Ogundoyin, has taken a bow from the American university and shifted her focus to expanding a fast-rising quick-service restaurant chain, Sooyah Bistro into a global brand.
Ogundoyin, the country director, pioneered Nexford University in Nigeria between 2018 and 2023.
According to a statement made available to the Saturday PUNCH, there have been speculations by keen observers and business analysts of her true designation before it was confirmed on Thursday.
Ogundoyin stated, “Sooyah Bistro has its eyes set on expanding nationally and internationally. The company, a fast-rising quick-service restaurant chain, with outlets in Nigeria, is seeking new investors to enable it to achieve its million-dollar expansion plans.
“We have brought innovation to an age-old tradition and ran with it; we have completely innovated the suya space in ways no one has ever done.
“The company has built an ecosystem of skilled Hausa barbecuers, pitmasters, local vendors, and young professionals. We have achieved remarkable feats. We are changing the way people eat and think about ethnic foods like suya. We are building connections in meaningful ways to lead and engage culture by using food as a bridge to West African art, music, fashion, and beyond.”
The educationist-turned-restaurateur advised business owners to be alert and prioritise structure in their companies.
“To achieve our ambitious targets, we needed to build proper structures and remain data- and technology-driven. It is time we boasted of true Nigerian successful enterprises expanding our culture and cuisine globally with the support of modern structures and technology,” she added.
