Nigeria Women’s Football League side, Robo Queens, have confirmed the transfer of two of their players Esther Onyenezide and Opeyemi Ajakaye to Madrid CFF in Spain, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
The club made the announcement on their official Facebook page.
“God of All WONDERS is still at it again,” the Lagos-based side wrote.
“Congratulations as the duo of Esther Onyenezide and Opeyemi Ajakaye have completed a move to Spanish Women Club Madrid CFF from NWFL Premiership side, FC Robo Queens.
“We pray for more Grace and auction to function in your career. Bigger opportunities in your career, wishing you injury-free career.
“With love from everyone at FC Robo International.”
Onyenezide announced herself to the world during the 2022 U-20 EWomen’s World Cup held in Costa Rica.
The 20-year-old midfielder won two Woman of The Match awards in the group stages scoring three goals but could not help Nigeria progress beyond the quarter-finals stages after the Falconets were defeated by the Netherlands.
Ajakaye was with Nigeria’s U-20 women at the WAFU-B U-20 tournament in Ghana where she won the tournament’s highest goal scorer award with six goals.
Before she was drafted to the Falconets, she was part of the Flamingos (U-17) side that won the country’s first-ever bronze medal at the U-17 Women’s World Cup.
Both players were called up to the Super Falcons recently and are now expected to continue their development at their new club in Madrid
Madrid CFF, currently fourth in the Spanish Primera División Femenina, will benefit from the addition of Onyenezide and Ajakaye to their roster as they aim for continued success in the league.
Robo Queens are currently fourth with 12 points in Group B in the NWFL.
