Nigeria’s Super Falcons are through to the football event of the 2024 Olympic Games after a 0-0 draw in the second leg of qualifiers against South Africa in Pretoria.
By the virtue of the 1-0 first leg victory in Abuja last Friday, Randy Waldrum’s ladies qualified with the same aggregate score line.
Unlike in the first leg, the Falcons were pushed to the back foot by their hosts who were desperate for a break through.
Goalkeeper, Chiamaka Nnadozie made some string of second half saves to keep the Nigerians’ hopes of first Olympics appearance since 2008 alive.
They now have it all to do when hostilities begin in the French capital against powerhouses; Spain, Japan and Brazil in group C
The Olympics starts July 26 to August 11, 2024.
