Super Eagles striker Peter Olayinka will only leave Serbian club Red Star Belgrade if he gets the right offers, a source close to the player has told PUNCH Sports Extra.
Olayinka was reported to be leaving the Serbian champions after one season due to family reasons. He won the Serbian Cup and the league title with them in the just-concluded 2023/24 season.
Olayinka, 28, joined Red Star at the start of the season after the end of an illustrious four-year sojourn at Slavia Prague where he scored 50 goals and provided 26 assists in 182 appearances and winning seven titles in the process.
The player is however looking forward to another transfer this summer but it must come at the right amount, the source told our correspondent.
“For now, we will keep observing. If better offers come, he will have to,” the source who preferred to be anonymous told PUNCH Sports Extra.
He contributed 11 goals and four assists as Red Star Belgrade won the league and cup to complete the domestic double.
He was also a part of their UEFA Champions League campaign although they were knocked out at the group stage.
Olayinka’s contributions were immense but he was in and out of the starting lineup on several occasions.
The striker recently relived how he overcame what he called a difficult start to winning two titles with Red Star Belgrade
“Coming to Serbia was a major decision I had to make in my career, it was kind of difficult adjusting within the first few matches, I am grateful to God, for how the journey has been so far,” the striker told PUNCH Sports Extra.
