Afrimed, one of the subsidiaries of Mikano International Limited, has been unveiled as the first full-fledged aesthetic solutions distributor in Nigeria.
The event, which took place in Lagos, brought together experts in the medical and aesthetic industries to witness the grand opening ceremony.
In his opening speech, the Minister of State for Health, Dr Tunji Alausa, congratulated Afrimed for being the first full-fledged aesthetic solutions distributor in Nigeria.
He said, “I am glad to be here, on the occasion of the opening of ‘Nigeria’s first full-fledged aesthetics solutions distributor, Afrimed.
“This landmark event marks a significant milestone in our nation’s healthcare journey, opening new avenues for advanced aesthetic treatments and technologies that will undoubtedly enhance the well-being and confidence of our citizens.”
Alausa noted that aesthetics in healthcare was not merely about appearance.
He added, “Aesthetics is deeply intertwined with our overall health and quality of life.
“By addressing issues ranging from skin health to reconstructive surgery, aesthetics solutions play a crucial role in a comprehensive healthcare environment.
“These solutions not only help individuals regain their physical appearance but also restore their confidence and mental well-being, contributing to a holistic recovery and improved life satisfaction.”
Alausa emphasised that the introduction of advanced aesthetic solutions would spur economic growth, create job opportunities and foster collaborations with global leaders in the aesthetics industry.
“It positions Nigeria as a competitive player on the global healthcare stage, attracting investments and enhancing our healthcare infrastructure.
“I urge all stakeholders in the healthcare sector to embrace these advancements and collaborate to make aesthetic healthcare accessible and affordable for all Nigerians,” he explained.
The minister further encouraged the building of a healthier nation as part of the goals of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Tinubu.
“Let us continue to strive for excellence and work together to build a healthier, more confident nation.
“This is what our President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, wants for our nation, and together we shall get there,” he noted.
The Managing Director of Afrimed, Dr Elias Chabtini, said the company was excited to unveil its products.
“We have been studying the Nigerian market for a while now and it has been one year now that we opened our base for West Africa here in Nigeria.
“We have the first company that provides the A-Z concept of any clinical field, such as dermatology, plastic surgery and aesthetics. The Nigerian market is big, the only thing is that there is no provider. Nobody is educating the doctors, nobody is educating the therapists and sourcing products is very difficult because there is no supplier.
“We decided to elevate the supply of products and cater for the needs because it is the biggest market in Africa,” he averred.
Elias asserted that the reason multinational companies were leaving the Nigerian market was that they did not know how to work in such an environment.
He added, “When people come and stay in Nigeria, it is because they see the bigger picture.
“Those companies leaving are shortsighted. Nigeria has a lot of potential,” he declared.
Reassuring stakeholders on the quality of the product, the Chairman of Mikano International Limited, Mofid Karameh, said every product coming from Mikano International Limited was top-notch.
He stated, “We have done a lot over the years and we will continue to do the best work. I am sure the product which is coming from us will be the best in the country.
“Our syringe manufacturing subsidiary, Afrimedical Manufacturing and Supplies Limited has one of Africa’s largest syringe factories, built following WHO standards, right here in Nigeria, with an annual production capacity of 1.8 billion syringes per annum.
“Our syringes are ISO certified and are sterilised using the latest Electron Beam Sterilisation technology,” he expounded.
