The Lagos State Government has disclosed that it has invested N20m in the forthcoming Lagos State Tourism Naijabrand Chick Trade Fair to secure booths for traders.
According to a statement, the state government’s sponsorship, through the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, is targeted at indigent vendors unable to secure exhibition spaces on their own due to the high cost.
The Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Arts, Culture and Tourism, Idris Aregbe, said the trade fair initiative was about empowering every business, regardless of size, to participate and succeed and that it highlighted Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s commitment to investing in small and medium-scale businesses.
He also revealed that the state tourism ministry allocated an additional N5m through the “Sanwo Ti Sanwo E” initiative, a programme designed to support Lagos State residents.
Through the Sanwo Ti Sanwo E initiative, Aregbe stated that the state government had donated over N100m to assist citizens and ensure they have access to the resources and opportunities they need to thrive in the state.
He added that the funds would be distributed through the community development associations, particularly in Ikeja, to enhance local participation.
He noted that the NBC trade fair was aimed at sales of N5bn, adding, “It will be unfair if you live in Lagos and you don’t partake in the sales.”
