The now-viral video revealed a group of officers assaulting a man as they pushed him into a car before driving off.
Witnesses were also heard shouting in pidgin, “Do you want to kill him? They did not find anything on him. Leave him.”
The command’s spokesperson, ASP Mansir Hassan, said in a statement on Tuesday that the officers involved are currently under investigation.
The statement read, “The Kaduna State Police Command has responded to a trending video circulating on social media, showing officers assaulting a civilian in a manner unbecoming of officers.
“The incident took place in a known black spot in Kaduna South.”
The statement went further to reveal the names of the officers involved to be Inspector Ibrahim Daniel, Inspector Ezekiel Marcus, Corporal Isyaku James, and Constable Paul Asha, who were attached to the surveillance section of Kakuri Area Command.
In the statement, the Commissioner of Police, CP Audu Dabigi, also condemned the act, as he assured the public that “such misconduct will not be tolerated under his leadership.”
The CP has ordered a “swift and thorough investigation” into the matter to ensure that justice is served.
