Former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili, Thursday, expressed sadness over the collapse of a three-storeyed building, which left many dead in Itafaji area of Lagos Island on Wednesday.
GATMASH BLOG reported that at least, 50 children have been rescued by the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), as well as other security agencies.
Reacting to the sad event, Ezekwesili said she felt terrible to keep condoling people for careless deaths that better governance and accountability would prevent.
Ezekwesili tweeted: “Just catching up on the horrific #ItaFajiBuildingCollapse. My heart breaks at how frequently our country fails our children.
“It feels terrible to keep condoling people for careless deaths that better governance and accountability would prevent.
“Our children do not deserve this.”
