Nigeria’s digital transformation was the focus of the Nigeria-South Africa Chamber of Commerce’s October 2024 Breakfast Forum, held at Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.
The event emphasized key strategies for driving growth, innovation, and cybersecurity.
The Forum, sponsored by Philips Consulting Limited, had the keynote speaker by Dr. Juliet Ehimuan, Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Beyond Limits Africa, emphasizing the importance of digital transformation, citing rapid technological innovation and its impact on businesses.
She stressed the need for sustainable platforms, user experience, scalability, continuous improvement, security, and cybersecurity.
On the panel sessions;
Dr. Usman Abdullahi, Head of Information Technology Projects Clearance at NITDA, outlined Nigeria’s commitment to developing a thriving digital economy. Key strategies included stakeholder engagement, data protection, adaptability, national AI and blockchain policies, and global best practices.
Another panelist, Dumebi Obodo, MD/CEO of ChamsSwitch Limited, advocated for a thoughtful approach to digital transformation, emphasizing thinking and scenario planning preceding technology deployment. Besides, he stressed understanding customer needs, continuous thinking, and regular audits for data protection compliance.
Ayowole Poppoola, Chief Information Security Officer at FCMB, emphasized collaboration and leadership in addressing cybersecurity challenges, noting that cybersecurity is a strategic leadership concern, requiring continuous testing and iteration.
On his part, Babalola Oyeyele, MTN Nigeria’s Chief Strategy and Innovation Officer, highlighted the importance of balancing short-term goals with long-term innovation. He emphasized personalization through data and language, navigating competition and collaboration, and embracing AI for future growth.
