Renowned makeup artist, Sheika Daley, has shared her expertise with a captivating audience at the 7th GTCO Fashion Weekend masterclass event in Lagos.
She revealed on Sunday the secrets behind her signature glowing looks that last all day. With a client roster that includes top celebrities like Zendaya, Beyoncé, and Nicki Minaj, Daley’s insights into the world of celebrity makeup artistry were highly anticipated.
Daley’s journey into the beauty industry began after high school, when she transitioned from painting to beauty consulting. Her passion for art and beauty quickly flourished, and she has since become one of the most sought-after makeup artists in the entertainment industry.
Daley’s work has graced the covers of top publications like Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, and Elle, and campaigns for luxury brands Valentino, Bulgari, and Lancôme. Her impressive client list includes: Zendaya, Beyoncé, Nicki Minaj, Serena Williams, Kelly Rowland etc.
During the masterclass, Daley emphasized the importance of hydration, citing Lancome’s Absolute Moisturizer as a favourite product. She also highlighted her go-to primers, including Milk Hydro Primer.
“Understanding individual skin types and tones helps you create a flawless base. Concealing imperfections, enhancing natural features should not be ignored but most importantly, avoid common mistakes like overglow and inadequate layering” she emphasized.
When asked about adapting makeup looks for different events, Daley advised matching the face to the body’s natural tone, rather than drastically changing the complexion. This approach ensures a seamless, natural look that complements the individual’s features.
Daley’s assistant, Christopher, assisted during the live demonstration, which showcased Daley’s techniques for creating a flawless base, concealing imperfections, and enhancing natural features.
