Zamfara state government has arrested and detained the publicity secretary of the All Progressives Congress APC, in the state for an open statements bordering on state security issues.
The state police command said he was arrested to help the security agencies investigate the security challenges in the state.
According to information gathered by DAILY POST, Hon. Ibrahim Danmaliki Gidangoga was arrested at the mosque premises after his evening prayers at Sheik Kanoma’s mosque.
According to eyewitnesses, the police stormed the mosque and surrounded the mosque with arms waiting for Gidangoga to finish his prayers before he could be arrested.
It was learnt that Gidangoga was not allowed to enter his house, saying that the arrest warrant was issued by Zamfara state court of justice in Gusau, the state capital so that Gidangoga could lead the security operatives to the bushes where he claimed that there were over three million arms and ammunition in the bushes.
When contacted, the chairman of the state APC publicity committee, Hon. Ibrahim Danmadami Birinin Magaji said that the arrest may not be unconnected with public statements made by Gidangoga during a press conference in Gusau, the state capital.
According to the police source, Ibrahim Danmaliki Gidangoga was expected to appear before a court in Samaru in Gusau metropolis.
It could be recalled that the state governor during a press conference had tasked security agencies in the state to arrest Gidangoga so that he could lead them to the bushes where he said arms and ammunition were stored.
The governor noted that the issue of insecurity in the state should not be treated with kid gloves, stressing that the law must take its proper cause, vowing that anybody who tries to rubbish the peace deal in the state must be decisively dealt with.
