The Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission (ADSIEC) has released sensitive electoral materials to the 21 local government areas of the state ahead of the council poll slated for Saturday, December 7.
The release of the materials for distribution which took place on Friday at the state Central Stores in Yola was witnessed by state electoral officials and all delegates of political parties participating in the election.
The Chairman of ADSIEC, Alhaji Isa Shatima, told newsmen during the distribution that all necessary arrangements for the election had been made by the commission across the state.
Alhaji Shatima explained that all the materials were expected to reach local government headquarters by 4 o’clock Friday for onward distribution to wards and registration centres.
He declared that the election will commence by 8am Saturday and would be concluded by 3.30 in the afternoon.
He assured of adequate security, stating that over 7,000 security personnel had been deployed across the state to maintain law and order during the conduct of the exercise.
He disclosed that of 14 political parties participating in the election, only the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) each field chairmanship candidates in the 22 LGAs.
