The Director-General, Center for Justice on Religion and Ethnicity in Nigeria, Pastor Kallamu Musa Ali Dikwa, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to be bold enough to unearth the financiers of Boko Haram in Nigeria.
He said the President since his assumption of office in 2015 has shown some commitments in trying to bring to book some notable Nigerians that have looted the country’s treasury.
Speaking to DAILY POST in Kaduna, the Director-General commended the courage shown by the President to bring to book those that have brought the country to the mess it found itself economically, saying, “President Buhari should fear God Almighty to bring to the knowledge of Nigerians the financiers of Boko Haram that have brought untimely death to unimaginable number of innocent souls in the land and the destruction of unquantifiable amount of property since the outbreak of the insurgency in 2009.
“Failure by President Buhari to bring to the notice of Nigerians the financiers of Boko Haram will appear the present government only wanted cheap popularity to ensure their victory at the polls in 2015. The tears of orphans, widows and many others that have been maimed both military and civilians will be required by God Almighty in the hands of the APC-administration, who came out boldly to make Nigerians believe they have an answer to the security challenges Nigerians have been going through.
“President Buhari should fear his creator and be bold enough to tell Nigerians the financiers of this deathly group of people called Boko Haram and stop deceiving Nigerians that Boko Haram have their financiers from outside the shores of this country.
“How on earth can a sitting government who publicly told the citizens that they have an answer to their security challenges only to allow innocent souls to be wasted without any concrete steps taken to bring the ugly situation to an end. People in the land no longer go about their means of livelihoods all because of insecurity and the government keep on deceiving the people that insurgency has been brought under control. It is no longer news in Nigeria that in any part of the country to hear killings, kidnapping, bandits attacks and all manners of social vices because it has become the order of the day.”
Pastor Dikwa added, “It will interest Nigerians to know that some villages in Borno state have permanently been taken over by Boko Haram and no government or any organisation is saying anything. The Boko Haram terrorists are still occupying almost 30 Districts in 6 local government areas in Central Borno alone and these villages are Ajiri, Ngudoram, Maima, Ngawure, Antul, Mundala.
“Others are Tushe’ye, Chasa’a, Mundolo, Warsale, Slala, Gosoma, Mallam Maja, Murye, Chungwa, Jiye’e, among many others in other zones in the state including my village and district. These areas under Boko Haram are under their control and it is the terrorists that are supplying them with all their needs because they have blocked them from going outside or anybody from coming to the affected areas. Worst of it all, the Nigerian Military are aware of this issue.”
Pastor Dikwa further explained, “lt must be brought to the knowledge of the whole world that the Buhari led-administration has completely off its hands in doing anything towards the release of Leah Sharibu, who was abducted among her colleagues in 2018 bu have been with her abductors simply because she refuses to deny her faith.
“I am fully involved towards the release of Leah Sharibu because the present administration has abandoned her and her family to carry their cross. For the past eight (8) months, l have engaged an NGO, The Kalthum Foundation for Peace to negotiate for Leah Sharibu’s release and they have done it and the terrorists have given an instruction that the government must not be involved in the negotiations and they requested that Leah Sharibu’s mother to accept that the government of the day is not involved in the negotiations, which the mother did and l have given the mother’s explanation to the NGO and the NGO in turn have given to the terrorists.
“The terrorists asked the NGO to collect the prove of life of Leah Sharibu for the parents to know truly that their daughter is still alive which l did. The NGO asked for logistics of N6.5m which l went round to contact some stakeholders for the money to be realized for the quick release of the girl but all to no avail.
“I believe that Leah Sharibu in any condition she found herself wants to be reunited to her family, and therefore, Leah’s staying in the hands of her abductors is contrary to her will. Even Leah, according to the NGO was recently asked if she still wants to return home and she answered yes, meaning, she is still dreaming of returning to her family.”
He alleged that the government of the day was doing business with insecurity, stressing that a serious government would have brought an end to the security challenges in the country within three months. He, therefore, called on United Nations and the international community to sanction Nigeria until insurgency in the land is completely wiped out from every part of the country.
On the alleged social media report that Leah Sharibu has given birth to a baby boy in the hands of the captives, Pastor Dikwa refused to believe the allegation, saying it isn’t true as most media organizations are doing so to get cheap popularity. “If truly Leah Sharibu has given birth, the story would not come the way it is being carried today,” he noted.
