Nigeria is not the only country that has recorded the first case of coronavirus.
On Thursday, the deadly killer disease, which originated from Wuhan in China, hit 5 other countries.
They are Denmark, Netherlands, San Marino, Estonia and Northern Ireland.
On Wednesday, the World Health Organisation (WHO) listed Brazil, Georgia, Greece, Macedonia, Pakistan, Romania and Norway as countries with new cases.
All announced efforts to forestall the spread of the virus which broke out mid-December 2019.
With the development, coronavirus is now in 50 countries and caused the death of over 3,000 people.
On Friday, the Nigerian government announced a COVID-19 case in Lagos, the commercial hub of Africa’s most populous nation.
The infected individual is an Italian citizen who works in Nigeria and returned from Milan, Italy to Lagos, on the 25th of February.
The government has assured that the patient is clinically stable with no serious symptoms. He is currently being managed at the Infectious Disease Hospital in Yaba, Lagos.
Authorities say measures are in place to ensure an outbreak is controlled and contained quickly.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) had announced preventive measures against coronavirus.
