Popular Nigerian businessman and billionaire entrepreneur Obinna Iyiegbu, popularly known as Obi Cubana, has reportedly deleted all posts related to the City Boy Movement from his Instagram page, sparking fresh reactions across social media.
The development comes months after the nightlife entrepreneur was officially unveiled in January 2026 as the South-East Regional Coordinator of the City Boy Movement, a political advocacy group mobilizing grassroots support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Obi Cubana’s appointment was formally presented by Seyi Tinubu, who serves as a patron of the movement. The move was widely viewed as part of efforts to strengthen the President’s political influence in the South-East region.
However, the appointment generated mixed reactions among Nigerians, particularly on social media, due to Obi Cubana’s perceived support for Peter Obi during the 2023 presidential election.
Following criticism from some supporters and political observers, Obi Cubana defended his decision, stating that his involvement in the movement was motivated by a desire to contribute positively to national development.
“Lasting change comes from constructive engagement, not standing apart,” he reportedly stated while addressing concerns over his new political role.
Despite the clarification, criticism surrounding his appointment reportedly continued online, with many questioning the businessman’s political alignment.

The recent removal of all City Boy Movement-related posts from his Instagram page has now fueled speculation that the businessman may be distancing himself from the movement or attempting to reduce public controversy surrounding the appointment.
As of the time of filing this report, Obinna Iyiegbu has not officially commented on the reported deletion of the posts.
