The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, has arrested fifteen persons for selling preregistered SIM Card in Jigawa State.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SC. Adamu Shehu confirmed the incident to DAILY POST in Dutse.
He said, the Command in collaboration with the Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC) had embarked on raids in some identified areas and arrested fifteen (15) people in connection with sales of pre-registered SIM cards.
He said the arrest was made at four major markets including Kanya Babba in Babura LGA, Diginsa in Birniwa LGA, Kiri Kasamma LGA and Gumel market.
Adamu said the suspects were in possession of over One Thousand Three Hundred and Twenty Four (1,324) pieces of preregistered SIM cards belonging to different telecommunication companies.
He said the operation was to tackle the current trend of using preregistered SIM cards to perpetuate crime and criminality in the State and the country.
Adamau said the suspects have confessed to the crime and investigation ongoing, and that they will be taken to court for prosecution.
The State Commandant, Alh. Garba Muhammad noted that his command will not relent on its efforts to curb the practice of selling preregistered SIM packs in the State.
