The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arraigned a former Commissioner in Adamawa State, Sanda Lamurde, before a state high court in Yola over a N379 million fraud.
Sanda Lamurde who was Commissioner of Finance when Bala Ngilari was state governor (October 2014 to May 2015), allegedly misappropriated the funds in his care at the time as Chairman, Committee on Internally Displaced Persons Welfare.
The EFCC took him before the State High Court on a 21-count charge of criminal breach of trust, forgery and using fake documents.
He is charged with having diverted N379,500,000 meant to buy food items for IDPs in the state.
Entertaining the case, the presiding judge, Justice Nathan Musa adjourned the matter April 16, for commencement of hearing.
He granted the accused bail in the sum of N20 million and one surety who must be a permanent secretary in the state civil service.
