The Zamfara State House of Assembly has said it has suspended all official activities including plenary sessions pending when the novel coronavirus would be curtailed.
This was disclosed by the Speaker of the House, Nasiru Magarya, in a press statement signed by the House’s public Relations Officer, Comrade Mustapha Jafaru Kaura and issued to newsmen in Gusau, the state capital Thursday.
According to the press statement, Hon. Magarya expressed deep concern over the CONVID-19 pandemic which he said is now a global concern.
The speaker noted that the Assembly has cancelled all its activities including plenary, committee sittings and oversight functions as part of measures to curtail the spread of the coronavirus in the state.

“We are very much aware that there is no outbreak of the pandemic in the state, and we are also aware of the concerted efforts made by all relevant stakeholders to ensure that the disease would not get its way into the state” he noted..
“We commend the efforts of state government being led by Hon. Bello Mohammed Matawalle for taking proactive measures aimed at containing the spread of COVID-19 in the state.
” And we hope that with this suspension, members and staff of the State House of Assembly will stay at home until further notice,” he said.
The Speaker, therefore, called on his members to be visiting their constituencies to re-orientate their people on how to prevent themselves from contracting the disease.
