The All Progressives Congress, (APC) in Ekiti State has appealed to residents to adhere strictly to the various guidelines put in place by the state government to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
The party lauded Governor Kayode Fayemi for the bold steps taken to tackle the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic, currently ravaging the world over.
The party, in a statement on Monday, noted that even before the virus was detected in the state, the governor had taken proactive measures to curtail it.
The statement, signed by the APC Director of Media and Publicity, Elder Sam Oluwalana, noted that restriction of movement, ban on public congregation of more than 20 persons and closure of all boundaries in the state, have assisted in no small way to curtail the spread of the virus in the state.
The Governor’s aide said the state is now fully prepared and equipped to treat any reported case of COVID 19, urging the people to promptly alert the committee in charge of the fight, in case anyone is suspected of showing symptoms of the disease.
He noted that as part of the efforts to confront the public health and economic challenges associated with the pandemic, the governor has further taken some decisions aimed at ensuring that the impact of the pandemic was mitigated.
According to Oluwalana: “Just last week, the Governor set up a 47-member panel of eminent citizens of the state, including three former governors, to help mobilise resources to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, while the whole of Ado Metropolis and the state Teaching Hospital was disinfected by the state health officials on Sunday”, the state stated.
