The Federal Government has insisted that the Chinese medical professionals currently in the country will have no contact with patients in the Nigeria.
There has been apprehension among citizens following their arrival, especially as the world’s index case was discovered in Wuhan, China.
However, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and Chairman of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19, Boss Mustapha, who spoke in Abuja yesterday, said their job was purely advisory and for capacity building.
The Chinese would work on the protection of frontline health workers, maintenance of the equipment that they have brought and “will not directly meet nor interact with our patients while in Nigeria.”
He also assured that all members of the Chinese working team have been undergoing the mandatory 14-day quarantine in Nigeria, before starting their work.
