The Africa Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) has said that there are now 15,249 confirmed cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19) in 52 countries across Africa.
Africa CDC stated this in a tweet on its official Twitter handle on Tuesday.
According to the tweet, COVID-19 has killed 816 people in Africa, while a total of 2,895 patients have recovered from the deadly disease across the continent.
South Africa remains the highest country in Africa with 2,272 cases and 27 deaths, followed by Egypt with 2,190 and 164 deaths, and Algeria with 1,914 cases and 293 deaths.
The health agency tweeted, “ UPDATE IN AFRICA BY REGION (14 APRIL 2020, 9 AM EAT)
”52 @_AfricanUnion Member States reporting 15,249 COVID-19 cases, 816 deaths & 2,895 recoveries with a Cumulative CFR of 5.34%.”
Meanwhile, according to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, Nigeria now has 343 confirmed cases of Coronavirus. 91 have been discharged with 10 deaths recorded.
